PT Pindad (Persero) 2012 ‘One Billion Indonesian Trees’ Movement
As usual, PT Pindad (Persero) do an annual Corporate Social Responsibility activity. This event was named ‘One Billion Indonesian Trees’ Movement and held on Wednesday, November 28th 2012. The movement which planted about 5.000 tree buds, took place at Kampong Ladang, Margalaksana Village, South Sumedang Sub-District.
This planting activity was based on the Critical Land Rehabilitation Movement in Sumedang Regency which designed by West Java Governor in 2002 and continued by “One Billion Indonesian Trees” Movement which designed by the Indonesian Government. Based on those programs and PT Pindad commitment to conserve the nature, President Director ordered that PT Pindad should have a planting target at least 6.000 tree buds in one year.
The activity was began at 9 AM with the speech from the Head of South Sumedang Sub-District and the Head of Forestry and Plantation Department Sumedang Regency. Deputy Director of Administration of PT Pindad (Persero), Silaningsih attended the event on behalf of PT Pindad President Director. The planting activity was started about 10.00 AM and was involving the society around the planting area, Forestry and Plantation Department employees, and some of PT Pindad staffs.
Hopefully, this event could give a contribution to save the critical lands from river sedimentation and soil erosion danger. Also, the reforestation and planting culture could be a daily activities of the society and they could taking care their own surroundings with a target to recover the critical lands returning green and fertile.
This event is PT Pindad CSR activity that been held since 2002. Until now, PT Pindad already gave the support by 50.000 trees that had planted and spread in many areas. Hopefully, PT Pindad could make another useful and continuous event in the future. (Anggia Susada Mantarlia)
